Position Summary:

Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Client Report Tax Specialist will support the Tax Department's payroll tax functions surrounding the companies client reported state jurisdictions, mainly SUTA and PFML taxes.  The Client Report Tax Specialist will provide support to other departments, which includes problem solving, answering questions, and resolving issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • File quarterly payroll tax returns for both SUTA and PFML jurisdictions
  • Respond to tax notices from taxing authorities
  • Obtain and track SUTA tax rates
  • Correspond with clients and taxing authorities to manage client tax accounts
  • Analyze tax data
  • Process amendments, adjustments and balancing of wages
  • Manage tax department mail boxes
  • Provide assistance to payroll to assist with setups etc.
  • Work on Year-End filings, such as W-2s for clients
  • Collaborate with other departments to correct issues with employee setups
  • Review mid-year client implementations, to ensure accurate taxes going forward
  • Research changes in tax laws and how they affect our business and clients
  • Assist Tax Manager and Tax Director as needed for other projects
  • Document all processes with individual states
  • Seek efficiencies in all processes and communicate new ideas to Tax Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with general payroll
  • Knowledgeable about federal, state and local payroll taxes
  • Experience filing federal, state and local tax returns
  • Experience with MasterTax
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent math skills
  • Well organized, and ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work well with others, including other departments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with payroll processing software
  • PEO experience preferred

Educational and Professional Licensing or Certification Requirements:

  • High School Education
