Position Summary:

The staff accountant works under the supervision of the Senior Accountant to maintain financial reports, records, and general ledgers; prepare reconciliations; and perform general bookkeeping. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform system uploads and ensure data integrity between the payroll system and the GL
  • Complete account reconciliations, such as bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare detailed balance sheet account reconciliations monthly
  • Provide detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors
  • Assist in evaluating/developing internal control process & procedures
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Prepare month end journal entries
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Attention to detail
  • Well organized, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well with others, including other departments
  • Must be able to operate at a fast pace and cope with change
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required
  • Must be comfortable with Pivot table and Vlookup functions in Excel
  • Great Plains experience is preferred

Educational and Professional Licensing or Certification Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting required
  • CPA track desired
